Augusta Township Mounted Patrol
Minutes for November 12, 2001

Present for the meeting which was held at Henry's house were: Connie
Maynard,
Shirley Lyson, Bill Beach, Henry Clay, Sally Altenbernt & Debby Franks.

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 by Debby.

Debby discussed the meeting Lewis & she had with Sheriff Minzey on November
1. He has made sure we access to the crime summery. Debby will pick up a
copy
each month until access can be arranged by computer. At the moment the
computer equipment at the sheriff's office is not compatible with equipment
elsewhere in the county plus most of the personnel know little about
computers.  CPR renewal will be arranged to be done during a meeting night.
As before we will go to the sheriff's department to get the training.

If you want a copy of the crime summery come by the Maynards to get a copy.
Copies were handed out at the meeting.

After I had read the minutes from last month Sally made a motion to accept
the minutes & Bill seconded it. The motion passed.

I read the bank statement to give a treasury report of $532.99.

Old Business

For those who didn't attend the Volunteer Appreciation Banquet you missed a
good meal. Our only complaint was that Minzey never mentioned our group. We
did receive certificates & a mug.

Your $10.00 payment for insurance costs is due. If you haven't made the
payment yet please send it to Alda. A list of nonpaying members will be
published in January's minutes.

Belleville parade is December 1, starts at 11:00 with lineup by 10:30.
Parade starts behind the Belleville High School. Shirley has offered to
drive
her truck to haul pooper scoopers since she can't ride. If your planning on
riding in the parade please let me know.

Our annual Christmas potluck will be December 12 at the Rawsonville Mobile
Home Park clubhouse. Please bring a main dish with either a salad or dessert
for passing. Drinks, plates ect will be provided.

It was decided that after the holidays a special meeting will be held to
write up the uniforms requirements to add to our bylaws.  Then it will be
presented at the regular meeting for discussing & voting.

The following were at the obstacle training on October 27. Connie & Lewis,
Debby, Henry, Bill, Sally, Becky K, Alda, Becky & Rick.  Wendy was there for
a short time before we started but start having breathing problems & had to
return home.  Henry set up a search & rescue at his house. Considering we
had
new members (who weren't told how to do this) & the older members hadn't
done
this in a while I guess we did okay. It took two passes to find the two
items. It wasn't until we were on the second pass that I remembered some of
the techniques to this. Like everyone watches the person to their right out
of the corner of their eye to keep the line straight & so you don't get two
far ahead or behind the group. When someone falls out of line the others
tend
to move over a little causing breaks elsewhere making it possible to miss
what your looking for.   Henry didn't make it easy either. We were looking
for small rocks in a sandwich bag & a kids rifle. The wind blew leaves over
the items making it harder. This is how it would be when out in a real
situation looking for something or someone.

New Business

Verico's banner program has contacted our web site wanting to know if we're
interested in allowing them to advertise on our web site. We would be paid a
fee if anyone buys something from the advertisement on our site. Debby is
checking to get a list of advertisers  & to see if we can approve of who
advertises. A discussion & vote will be at January's meeting.

At 8:14 Henry made a motion to adjourn & Bill seconded it. The motion
passed.
