Present were Lewis and Connie Maynard, Liz Vas, Lisa KIng, Pat Graustein, Shirley
Lyson, Debby, FRanks, Laurie McDowell, Jeff and Ronda Selter, and Al Veal. We had
a visitor Terri Copley.

The meeting was called to order by Liz at 7:11.

Lisa gave the crime summary. She cautioned everyone about 2 Hispanic males
running a gypsy scam in the area. They drive a beige truck. If you see 2 Hispanic
males in that color truck try to get the license plate number and call Lisa.

The minutes from last months meeting were read by Connie. Karen made a motion
to accept the minutes as read and Pat seconded. The motion passed.

Old Business

Don't forget you need a hat band to ride in the parades. If you don't got yours yet
see Connie.

It's official! We get to use the phones for another year. If you called in on your
phone to report anything Lisa would like to know. Airtouch would like to know.

The Poker Ride will have competition. Lucille's is having a ride a thon the same day.
We are looking for any donations of hot dogs, buns, condiments, chips or pop. If you
know of someone wanting to donate any of these items oe may be wanting to donate
some money in exchange for advertising please see Debby. Al has suggested we
call the sheriffs dept. to see if a car could patrol once or twice the ride area
just in ase of any problems. Lisa has said she would be there. Another suggestion
was to see if members of the American Legion would be interested in being mobile
support and supply water at different points.

The by-laws revision committee met Monday the 19th at Henry's house with another
meting planned for Tuesday the 27th at Al Veal. We accomplished part of the work.

It was discuss having a Public Relations person to handle press and advertising of
our group. Henry was mentioned as a good person for this position (Since the
meeting he has said he would accept the position) The PR representative set
up  a press package telling the history of our group. By having one person to handle
the press we hope to cut down on misinformation.

Please dial 911 anytime you are going out on patrol. This helps them to know we
are patrolling and have an idea on where to look if problems. Lisa said if you call
in and are treated rudely get the operators name and report them.

Liz has written letters to the area fire dept. to offer our services for training
them on how to handle horses in case of emergency situations. They also will be given
phone numbers of members that would be willing to go pick up horses that have been
in an accident. The Dearborn Animal Shelter is interested in this type of training. Al
suggested checking with the local animal shelter to let them know what we are doing.
Laurie thought the new vet on Whittaker might be willing to help with the training.

Thank you cards were sent to Bob from HVA for first aid training and to
Gilberts Nursing Home for letting us use their meeting room.

True horsemen exercise their horses mind knowing that their bodies will always
follow. Normal horse people only consider the physical aspects of their horses.

Top ten exercises to become a better horse person. I'll type 2 a month for the next 6
months. 10. Drop a heavy, steel shod object on your foot. Don't pick it up right
away. Shout "Get OFF, Hortan, get OFF" 9. leap out of a moving vehicle and
practice :relaxing into the fall" Roll lithely into a ball and spring to your feet
unharmed.

What disease did the cowboy get after trying to break his new horse?

At what age are the milk incisors shed?

Name Gene Autry's horse.

New Business

Debby has suggested getting driving instructors on teaching students the proper
way to pass horses. Most drivers don't know how easy it is for horses to spook when
horns are honked or engines revved up. It was talked about starting a petition to
send to Candice Miller requesting putting a question on the drivers written test. Debby
is going to check with t he Michigan Horse Council on the proper criteria for a
petition and to see if this has ever been tried. More information at the next meeting.
Terri suggested putting out a horse and car safety flyer.

If you notice a horse crossing sign missing call Lisa. A sign has been turned in to her
office but know one knows where it came from.

Lisa asked if our group would help July 12 - National Night out a the Saline
Fairgrounds from 11-4. She's not sure what er will be asked to do yet. One thing
would be to let kids pet our horses over an arena fence. We might be asked to do
grounds patrolling also. There will be pizza and drinks.

Proof of coggins and vaccines is due by June 1.

This was not discuss at the meeting but is important. The secretary treasurers job
might be split up. this was discussed at the revision meeting. think about this.
By having 2 people there is better check and balance system. We've never had
much money so it didn't matter before. Some day that could change and we should
be prepared. I'm mentioning this now so you can be thinking about it.

Liz knows of a 2 horse draft trailer bumper pull for sale $800 and has a new floor.

June 28 training will meet at the township hall at 2:00 and we might split on different
groups to cover more area.

Karen gave information on 2 horses for sale in the area. However I have lost the
paper so if you are looking for a horse or know someone looking call Karen for the
information. If I find the paper or get the information I'll put it in next months
minutes. The horses belong to Norma who lives on Tuttlehill where )Oak  comes
out to Tuttlehill.

TCHA has sent us al letter asking if our group would like to sale canned pop at two
horse shows this summer. The have asked us to man the gate and hand out ribbons
in exchange for their allowing us to sell pop. One date is Aug. 24 the other I have
to call and verify with them as they put on the letter July 15. their shows are on
Sundays not weekdays. I think it could be fun and good exposure for our group.
