Liz Vas, Debby Franks, and Sally Altenbernt.

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 by Michelle Steffen.

Rick Boone won the 50/50 raffle and donated the $7.50 he won back
to the treasury. That gives us $17.15.

Michelle Steffen passed around a letter she drafted to Sheriff Schebil
thanking him for attending our training session May 4.
Lisa King suggested we design our own letterhead and no longer use
the Sheriff letterhead. She also said Sheriff Schebil can't help
us with getting Mounted Neighborhood Watch signs.         She also
informed us we can use the mission statement at the bottom of the
sheriff's letterhead. It was suggested it didn't look proper to
make a request for something in a thank you letter and that all
officers should sign all letters going out from the group. Rick
Boone made the motion that we accept the letter with the changes
and Henry Clay seconded it. The motion was passed.

We can get mounted neighborhood signs from Lisa King for $31
each. Rick Boone suggested we use the account money f or these
signs. Karen Clayton said she would approach the township to see if
they would help us purchase some signs.     Karen Clayton made the
motion and Tom Keene seconded it. The motion passed.

More magnetic signs are being made and donated to our group.
Lisa King will get us a price so we can have some for everyone.
What we have coming are 6 more that are 24 by 24. A suggestion was
made we use some of our account to pay f or more signs. Karen
Clayton made the motion to table this until the signs are ready.
Lewis Maynard seconded it. The motion passed.

We can purchase Neighborhood Watch window signs 12 1/2 by 12
1/2 for $2 or 5 by 5 for $1 from Lisa King. They are orange and
white and very visible.

Jeff Selter checked with the Washtenaw road Commission about
getting Mounted Neighborhood signs made and they said no way.

Lisa King made the motion to pass out our cellular phones
after she gave the crime report. Jeff Selter seconded it and the
motion passed.

Starting June 1 we will have a part time deputy. His name is
Kevin Deacons. (I hope I have his mane spelled right). For the
month of March we had 2 burglaries one on the 10020 Liss and the
other on 11294 Rawsonville. There was 9 larcenies of motor
vehicles and 2 stolen cars.

We finally have cellular phones. If you didn't receive one
and want one please contact Lisa King. We have the use of them for
I year and for 911 calls only. If you call out anywhere else you
lose the phone and pay for the calls made.     They have screw on
antennas, carrying case, 2 batteries one to be kept charged at all
times, Cig adapter. The cig adapter doesn't charge the phone only
allows us to use the phone in our vehicles. If damaged or lost the
phones will cost the uses $225. If accidentally damaged falling off
the horse or something like that call Lisa King so she can report
it and get the phone replaced.   We have to return all phones to
Lisa by May 7 before noon of 1997.

Call 911 whenever you go out riding on patrol to let them know
who's going out, how long and where riding.

Anyone with a cellular phone please check your phone and if it
doesn't work like most of ours doesn't contact me about getting
your phone so I can return them to Lisa so she can get take them
back.

Some members were upset about the changes made in the pads
with no other members knowledge. Sally Altenbernt made a motion
that if there are any changes to be made in anything involving the
mounted unit that all officers are to be informed before the
changes can be made.    Karen Clayton seconded the motion.      The
motion passed.

Karen Clayton made the motion that all money collected for any
mounted function be turned into the treasurer and all bills
submitted with a receipt for payment. Ronda Selter seconded the
motion.   Motion was passed.      This will allow more accurate
bookkeeping for when we are audited.

submitted by the next meeting for the members to see. Becky Boone
seconded the motion. The motion passed.

A banner has been donated to our group f or our First Aid stations.

for the first aid booth at the 4 H Fair July 29 - Aug. 3. Would you
check your papers you brought home that night as Michelle never
received the sheet back. We are sending a letter to Sam's Club to
see if they will donate juices or bottled water for use at the
fair. Michelle read the letter to the group. Rick made the motion
to accept the letter and Karen seconded it. Motion passed.

Karen made a motion that we set up a generic letter for donations
using the one approved for Sam's Club. Jeff seconded it.
Motion passed.

Steffens are working on getting a camper donated for our use.
It'd be an older model needing fixing up. The Steffens have said
they would store it at their place and put tags on it. It would
have to be donated to mounted unit only but we could loan it out to
other groups like 4 H. Rick made the motion that we look into this
more as long as its a camper and not a motor home. Jeff seconded it.
Motion carried.

As our insurance expires in 2 months we voted to keep the same
company unless someone can find a better policy for less.

Rick has found someone who will donate ID cards to our group.
More at next meeting.

Sumpter Horseman are interested in starting a mounted neighborhood
watch like ours and have approached us about training.
Concerns were if we bring in another group does insurance cover us.
As it was getting late we decided to table this till the next
meeting.
