Augusta  Township Mounted Patrol
Minutes for January 9, 2002

Present for the meeting were Connie Maynard, Debby Franks, Henry Clay, Bill
Beach, Sally Altenbernt & Shirley Lyson with Kailey Lyson attending her first
meeting. Late arrivals were Lewis Maynard & Becky Kreager.

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 by Debby.

Henry made a motion to accept the minutes unread with Bill seconding it.
Motion passed.

Connie read the bank statement which showed us having $532.99. Henry made a
motion to accept the treasury report & Bill seconded it. Motion passed.

Debby ran by the Sheriff's department & got a copy of the crime summary which
was handed out the members present.  She asked why Henry's break-in wasn't on
the last summary & was told some deputies are slow at entering their reports
in the computer causing crimes to not show up on the reports.

Old Business

The members that attended the Christmas potluck last month had a great time.
Plenty of food & conversation.  Kids had a great time playing pool.
Attendees were Debby & Don, Henry, Shirley, Sally, Lewis & Connie, Jeff &
Ronda & Alda. Kids there were Jeremy, Leanne, Tommy & Kyle.

The Augusta Township board recently voted on a paid position for a
neighborhood watch coordinator. They are paying $250 a month.

Any member interested in helping to draft the uniform requirements for the by
laws are welcome to attend the meeting  January 31 at Henry's house 7:00. The
wording will be drafted & presented at February's meeting for voting on.

Since Verio won't let Debby view their banner ads without signing up it was
decided to pass letting them advertise on the ATMP site for the time being.

There has been no word for Minzy on CPR training. A fireman from the township
Scott has said one of the firefighters might be able to train our group.
Debby will talk to him more about this & schedule a training for a meeting if
possible.

New Business

At the last 4-H horse leaders meeting I was asked if our group would be
interested in doing an obstacle clinic again for the 4-H kids on April 27.
This is at the Washtenaw Farm Council grounds. Henry made a motion to do this
community project & Bill seconded it. The motion passed. We will set up our
obstacles in the small back arena & help kids to get their horses through the
obstacles.

Debby brought up we need to set a date for the Poker ride soon. Looking for
ideas  to improve attendance. Any new ideas for a  new location? It was
discussed doing more advertising like on radio. Bring any ideas to the next
meeting.

We also need to be setting a date for our spring obstacle training. So many
things start happening in the spring making schedules get filled fast. A
suggestion is the Saturday after the 4-H clinic which is May 4.

The Township is discussing having a parade, picnic or a fair day in the
summer. We were asked if we might be interested in participating. Nothing
definite as of yet.

Since the State Fairgrounds have been sold the Tri County Project Red program
is looking elsewhere for a place to have their agriculture day. One location
being considered is Eastern Market. They have asked if we would be interested
in helping out with security. It will be in April either 11 or 14.

Bill retired from Ford December 22.

At 7:35 Henry made a motion to adjourn. Bill seconded it. Motion passed.
