Present for the meeting was: Connie & Lewis Maynard, Liz Vas, Debby
Franks,
Shirley Lyson, Karen Clayton, pat Graustein, Bill Beach (not Henry),
Henry Clay ( not Bill), Sally Altenbernt, and visiting was Annette
Diehlmn.
The meeting was called to order by Liz Vas at 7:08.
Connie read the minutes and gave a treasury report of 58.35 in the bank
and 6.07 in petty cash. We have not received the money from our account
at
the sheriffs as of yet. Karen made the motion to accept the minuets
and Sally
seconded the motion.
Old Business
We're still looking for the calvary hat hands for our parade outfits.
Liz is checking with Scott Colburn's and Sally will check at Napolean's.
Both will report what they find at the next meeting.
Debby is working on the Equine Liability signs for posting on our trailers
at public functions. Debby asked about putting our logo on the signs
but
everyone felt that was not a good idea.
It was decided we have a booth at the 4-H tack sale April 26. Liz will
see
what a booth will cost us, either 10 or 20 dollars. We can use this
to
advertise our group and fled others wanting to start a group like ours.
I've received no word from the Norfolk-Southern police about talking
at
one of our meetings.
We're still working on getting certified first aid training for the
group.
If anyone has any ideas let me know. Annette said she'll check with
Huron
Valley Ambulance to see if they might be able to train us.
Liz Is still working on ID cards and Debby has her camera fixed and
ready
to take pictures of everyone so we can have picture ID's.
Debby had samples of letterhead, business cards, and flyers that was
passed
around for everyone to make any changes that they might have noticed.
She took them home to fix up. Debby I just want you to know we all
appreciate
all that your doing for the group lately. you've been working hard
on a lot
of different things for us. Thanks from all of us.
Some of the members talked about attending one of the Friday night suppers
at the
American Legion. Either February 21 or 28 with the date being set at
the nest
meeting.
New Business
Watch for good prices on any matching tack you come across. We talked
about
using fundraiser money to purchase bridles and breast collar to go
with
our saddle pads.
Some fundraiser ideas were: ride-a-thon, poker ride, candy sales or
snack pack of
cookies etc., or a raffle. More work on these next meeting. If you
have any ideas
bring them to the next meeting.
It was also suggested we get some sponsors to help with our costs. In
exchange we
can advertise their product in the parades or other public functions.
I have the
American Legion and Celluar one mentioned in any parades we ride in.
Debby is
checking into the horse club that Ford's is starting and to see if
they might donate
something to us. Lewis has talked to Atlas Feeds in Clinton some about
sponsoring
us.
It was recently noticed by three of us that our name is not on the patrol's
flags.
(Actually when I noticed it last month I felt silly because I had thought
the flags had
our name. I did feel better when 2 others members said they thought
the same thing.)
Debby is going to check the place she got the T-shirts to see if they
do flags and get
a price. If you know of anywhere let me know or bring the info to the
nest
meeting.
Waterloo dates were set for this year. May 16-18 and Oct. 17-19. Same
times as we
were there last year. Of course Lewis and I will get out there as often
as we can.
I had a list of the training dates that I passed around. After the meeting
someone
wanted to know why I had done Debby's job of setting riding & training
dates. In case
anyone else thinks I might have over stopped the bounds the date's
listed were the
2nd Sunday's and 4th Saturday's which are the days the group set In
our rules as
traning/riding dates. I wasn't upset at being asked this. Anytime someone
questions why I have done something please ask me. This would keep
problems from
happening. The dates will be put In next months minutes so you can
put them on
your calendar.
Liz won the 50/50 raffle. She donated 1.50 of her winnings because of
a lock of
change. 13.00 was collected. We now have 14.07 in petty cash.
Debby can air brush signs for our group If we can find sheets of magnetic
material.
We need more magnetic signs for displaying on our vehicles at public
functions.
You can deduct your expenses for the patrol from your taxes. Lewis mentioned
a tax consultant to a meeting to talk to us If the group is entrusted.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 by a motion from Henry that was second by Bill.
