Clayton, Shirley Mayfield, Henry Clay, Bill Beach, Ronda Selter,
Pat Graustein, Debbie Franks, Wendy Tobler, Becky & Rick Boone,

Donna Nieman and Connie Mayfield.
The meeting was called to order by Michelle Steffen at 7:12.
Crime Report
Enclosed with your minutes is the crime summary Lisa King
Copied and gave to us. The big problem again is burglaries being
Caused by new gang members earning their way into the gang.
Lisa told us the gang population in on the rise at the Lincoln
High School. Please warn your young children that they should
Never open doors to strangers.
The township is hiring a part time deputy. He wont be
Patrolling for 2-3 months. The Sheriffs office is training new
Deputies now.
Old Business
Lewis Maynard introduced the officers. We did not go over
The job requirements for officers this month. I wont type them
Up for printing until they have been approved by members.
The code of conduct was read by Connie Mayfield and then
Discussed. Henry Clay made a few new suggestions which you will fins
in your copy. Henry made the motion to accept the Code with
The changes discussed and Karen Clayton seconded the motion. It
Was voted and the motion was carried.
Tom Keen is going to talk to Sandy at the upholstery shop
To see what it would cost to have saddle pads made for
Parades. Black with yellow piping was one suggestion. Another
Was gray with yellow because some people were worried black would
Be to hot for the horses. No decision was made on color until us
Get some prices.
Rick brought up the magnetic signs again. Lisa and Glen had
To admit they both had forgotten to check into this with their
Sources. Maybe by next month since I'm reminding them now.
Tom Keen got a price of $45.00 per person (6 people minimum)
From the Red Cross for first aid and CPR certification. This is the
Mine hour course. Salem Township has invited us to attend their 1st
aid
Classes which will be in a month or two. Lisa King has
Said shell let us know when.
The school board is interested in our working with the
School & doing presentations about gang for the parents that
Know very little about how gang dress and their other customs.
The board will be talking about how they would like the
Presentation to be handled at the Jan 22nd meeting. Tom Keen will
Get back with us on the boards decisions.
It was suggested that at the meetings members donate a
Dollar apiece for postage & coffee. This was not voted on. A
Total of $15.00 was collected. I spent $5.76 on postage in November
(This does not count the minutes I had to mail a second time because
Of sending them to the wrong town. This was my fault
I’ll cover that). In December postage came to $6.40. If I know I
Am going to see certain members the week I mail minutes I’ll hand
Deliver. If you don't attend the meetings and still want the
Minutes mailed please send me a stamped envelopes or a donation for
Postage. Our funds are not big enough to cover sending non
Participating members the minutes at this time.
Ideas were slightly discussed for fund raisers. In April the
Monroe Posse is having a used tack sale. The tables cost $15.00 to
Lease. The sale is in Dundee on M50 across from Foodtown &
County Post. The 4-H will be having a used tack sale April 27. It
Was suggested we might have a 50/50 raffle at these sales. Lisa
Also suggested we do something at the Horse Expo in Novi. No
Decisions were made.
New business
At the next meeting Lisa will bring us updated
Information and the new material on gangs. She will also bring
Slides.
Lisa informed us that we would never be called out for a
Search & rescue for an escaped prisoner. We will only be called
On to find lost child or person. When called we will be given a meeting
Place and at that place we'll be given directions on
Where they want us to search.
Al & Lisa have been working on the rules and regulation for
A Washtenaw County Posse. This March they hope to start
Accepting applications. Any Mounted Patrol member with 6 months service
May apply. There will be no weapons involved. This Posse will
Be for public relations and parades. Uniforms will be required.
Also matching saddle pads and bridles will be required.
We received a thank you card from Belleville Parade
Committee. They wished to thank us for taking part in the 1995
Annual Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade.
They want me to express their appreciation to all those who rode
In the parade.
A suggestion was made that we have something printer up
About our group to use as a handout at events we attend. Also
Glen & Lisa agreed to work together getting us donations. Liz
Got us a donation from the Meijers at Carpenter Rd. of $30.00 which
I used to buy a roll of stamps.
A motion was made by Rick Boone that we take up an
Collection for the Cornett’s (their house burnt at the 1st of the
Year). Sally Altenbernt seconded the motion. All voted in favor.
Friday the 19th is the deadline to get your money to me.
We will present it to them at the township meeting the 22nd
Of this month.
Glen Cutright mentioned that the township has a copy machine
It would like to donate to a group. Lewis & I have a place we
Could put it. It would save some wear on my printer.
While riding today (Sunday and +40 temp) Karen & I
Thought the group should be setting a Waterloo date for spring.
Meeting adjourned – no time in old minutes.
