Present for the meeting was: Liz Vas, Lisa King, Wendy Tobler,
Debbie Franks, Henry Clay, Bill Beach, Laurie Cutright, Karen Clayton,
Tom Keene, Ronda & Jeff Selter, Lewis Maynard, Michelle & Chuck Steffen,
Connie Mayfield, Becky & Rick Boone, & Peggy Johnson.

The Meeting was called to order by Michelle Steffen at 7:12.

A new type of agenda was presented to the group tonight. With one
minor change it was accepted. Lisa King's crime report was moved
up since she could be called out at any time.

Crime Report

Besides the crimes committed that Lisa gave us a copy of she also
told us about 4 adults from Detroit handing out flyers on racism at
the High School and about a fight between a 15 & 17 year old that
occurred during school hours. They were fighting over a girl. The
17 year old is the gang leader of a gang that's new to the
Sheriff's office W2 (wicked two). The 15 year old is in Juvenile Hall
awaiting sentencing for assault & battery. He will be
transferred to the COPE program and will not be coming back to the
school. Lisa & Al are giving a seminar at Schoolcraft College Feb.
16 on Mounted Neighborhood Units. Contact Lisa if interested.
Also Lisa has a booth at the South Lyon H S on Feb. 17 at noon. If
you could give her a hand please give her a call. She has 3 sign
shops working with her on donating magnetic signs for the group.
More info next month. She's still working on getting us cellular
phones. CPR & 1st Aid March 16, 8-5 at the sheriff's department.
Rick made the motion to accept Lisa's report. It was seconded by
Lewis and the motion was passed.

Delegations

Do we want to do public relation events? While everyone wants to
ride in parades and will help with booths and such no one wanted to
be in charge of  this function. So public relation events will be
handled as they  come up by the person suggesting the event.

Rick brought up that he has been approached by Larry Abernathy who
is in charge of the Ypsilanti American Legion wanting our group to
head the 4th of July parade. We were all in favor of this so Rick
will find out more and report back. It was suggested that he see
if we can pull a hay wagon or use a truck to follow our group so
the non riding members and children can ride in the parade also.

Tom Keene had no news on saddle pads. However Debbie Franks is
going to see if her mother who has recently retired would be
interested in sewing us saddle pads.

Action Items
Because of a time shortage minutes from last meeting were not read.

Instead of passing a hat each meeting there will be a 50/50 raffle
in which half of the money goes to the mounted unit and the other
half to the person holding the number drawn. Tickets will be sold
for 50 cents apiece at the beginning of the meeting. The drawing
will be at the end.

It was voted in that we will do the 1st Aid station at the 4-H Fair
again this year. Dates are July 29 through Aug. 2. We will also do
1st Aid for the Spring Roundup on May 11.

Enclosed will be the officer job descriptions which were approved
by the members.

The equipment list handed out is only recommended items to carry
not a requirement. Sorry to have confused some of the members.

Officers Report

Michelle suggested sending flowers and had a card for everyone to
sign for the Sperle family sending our sympathies over the death
of Tammy Sperle. $50 was collected. Liz volunteered to arrange
for the delivery of the flowers and card.

It was discussed some about vaccinations and Coggins tests.
Nothing was decided at this meeting. More talk to follow.

A phone tree was filled out so 1 person doesn't have to call all of
the members in case of an emergency or a change of plans.

We received our ribbon from New Boston.     Laurie took it home to
place it in a frame so it will look nicer.

The school board has not gotten back with us about our helping with
the gang problem.

The Cornet's were grateful for the $115 donation we presented them.

The next meeting is March 6 7:00 Township Fire hall.

The first training will be March 10 at Windy Acres Farm. The
Sheriff wants to watch us at a training & he can only come March
30. we figured we should have I or 2 training's weather permitting.

The meeting was adjourned 8:52.
