Old Business

There was 4 of us in the Milan parade December 4.  Lewis, Shirley, Allyson & Connie.  We had a good time and the horses all did well. It was fun decorating the horses with lights.  It was Dylans first parade and he did pretty good.  When we got into town where there was a large crowd Dylan's eyes almost popped out.  He didn't spook but he was ready to fly if something happened.  It was the first time he'd seen so many people at one time. Members of the Challengers 4-H club followed us and cleaned up our horses poop.  They had a great time also.  Some of them decorated their shovels with strings of lights.

New Business

I'm waiting to hear back from the Michigan Horse Council to see if we were voted in for membership.  I had to send them a copy of our bylaws.  Their meeting are the first Tuesday each month at the Pavillion in Lansing.  I plan to attend some of the meetings and would like company if anyone else wants to go.

Farm Bureau's Project Red is April 20 at Eastern Farmers market in Detroit.  If interested let me know.

We have agreed to do a desensitizing clinic for 4-H this April 23 at the Washtenaw Farm Grounds.  Some of the kids that has gone through our clinics in the past still talk about it.

The MHC Stallion Expo in Lansing is March 11 - 13.  We have been invited to participate in the color presentations for March 12 & 13.  If interested please let me know.  Lewis, Shirley & I are planning on doing this.  Henry & Bill usually represent the Monroe Posse.

We set May 21 for our spring obstacle training.  As usual it will be at the Maynards.  Guests are welcome to watch or even bring their horses.

I don't know how many members realize this but this month our group is 10 years old.  We had our first meeting February 1995 at the fire hall. (Lewis laughed at me for attending a meeting for a mounted neighborhood watch group).

Lewis is working on getting an appointment to visit with Sheriff Minzy and hopefully we can get CPR training set up for this year.

Henry made a motion to adjourn at 7:50.  Bill seconded the motion.

Sorry these minutes are so late.  The cold weather has kept me real busy working outside.

General comment from your secretary.  It sure would be nice to see more members attending the meeting.

Just a thought.
To make a perfect horseman, three things are requisite.  First, to know when and how to help your horse.  Secondly, how and when to correct him.  And thirdly, how and when to praise him and make much of him.
