Old Business
There was 4 of us in the Milan parade
December 4. Lewis, Shirley, Allyson & Connie. We had a
good time and the horses all did well. It was fun decorating the
horses with lights. It was Dylans first parade and he did pretty
good. When we got into town where there was a large crowd Dylan's
eyes almost popped out. He didn't spook but he was ready to fly
if something happened. It was the first time he'd seen so many
people at one time. Members of the Challengers 4-H club followed us and
cleaned up our horses poop. They had a great time also.
Some of them decorated their shovels with strings of lights.
New Business
I'm waiting to hear back from the
Michigan Horse Council to see if we were voted in for membership.

attend some of the meetings and would like company if anyone else wants
to go.
Farm Bureau's Project Red is April 20
at Eastern Farmers market in Detroit. If interested let me know.
We have agreed to do a desensitizing
clinic for 4-H this April 23 at the Washtenaw Farm Grounds. Some
of the kids that has gone through our clinics in the past still talk
about it.
The MHC Stallion Expo in Lansing is
March 11 - 13. We have been invited to participate in the color
presentations for March 12 & 13. If interested please let me
know. Lewis, Shirley & I are planning on doing this.
Henry & Bill usually represent the Monroe Posse.
We set May 21 for our spring obstacle
training. As usual it will be at the Maynards. Guests are
welcome to watch or even bring their horses.
I don't know how many members realize
this but this month our group is 10 years old. We had our first
meeting February 1995 at the fire hall. (Lewis laughed at me for
attending a meeting for a mounted neighborhood watch group).
Lewis is working on getting an
appointment to visit with Sheriff Minzy and hopefully we can get CPR
training set up for this year.
Henry made a motion to adjourn at
7:50. Bill seconded the motion.
Sorry these minutes are so late.
The cold weather has kept me real busy working outside.
General comment from your

the meeting.

use their horses. Debby will see if she still have the
certificates we used before on her computer. Also we thought it
might be good to see if Scott can run his sirens some towards the end
of the training session.
New Business
Lewis & Henry are meeting
Thursday February 17 with Sheriff Minzey at 1:00 to discuss getting a
crime summary, CPR, find out who is the township deputy, status
on the Washtenaw posse and general talk. If there is something
else you think should be talked about contact Lewis or Henry before
Thursday.
Debby informed us there is a
neighborhood watch meeting at the Ypsilanti public library on Whittaker
Rd February 28 at 7:00 pm. They have expressed an interest in
having some of our member to attend so work along with the group. They
are trying to get organized again.
Kathy Giszczak has requested another
article on the ATMP. I thought Debby did a good job on the last
article. I e-mail Debby on a topic besides the things we have
upcoming and that is the fact our group just had a ten year anniversary.
We discussed having a ten year party
this summer. It was mention we try to get as many of the people
who were in on the beginning as we can. Sort of like having a
reunion. We'll discuss this more in the coming months.
The next meeting is March 9 and will
be at Debby's house.
Henry made a motion to adjourn at 7:42
with Bill seconding the motion. The motion passed. Then
some members found themselves stuck in our muddy driveway. Sorry
about that.
Just a thought.
To make a perfect horseman, three
things are requisite. First, to know when and how to help your
horse. Secondly, how and when to correct him. And thirdly,
how and when to praise him and make much of him.

and Shirley rode on Sunday with me. Henry & Bill were

Training noises. It is a two CD set and covers any noise a horse
might encounter. I've been trying to get this CD for 5 months.
Its been on back order that long.
Debby wrote an article on the ATMP for the township
newsletter which is due out soon. Watch for it.
We have been invited to participate in Cantons parade
June 18. It was brought up that most of our members will probably
be doing hay at that time.
Kathy Giszczak suggested using the dunk tank at Adams
Archery as a fundraiser shared by ATMP and the local neighborhood
watch. Debby will work on this with Kathy.
Debby attended their meeting at the library.
They are having problems with raising funds. In fact it was wondered if
the ATMP would make a donation.

St

be in charge of this function. Any questions ask
him.
Bill has not received any information on
equine insurance for the group. If you come across
any companies please let us know. We do need to get

We set a tentative date of October 29
for obstacle training. Lewis later made a

A little late Lewis suggested the patrol
buy drinks and snacks for the patrolling members at rodeo. The

Novi Expo is November 11 - 13.
The ATMP wasn’t invited this year to participate in the

there is less space in the ring at the new site and guess that is why
we weren’t invited.
Lewis brought up doing a obstacle

mounted groups. We decided to talk to Al about this
and will also have to see if we can use the fairgrounds.
